Due to the sudden wave of domestic COVID-19 cases, the supply of blood across Taiwan dropped dramatically, but the demand for blood in hospitals has not decreased. Therefore, the supplies have failed to meet the demand amid severe shortages in the country’s blood reserves. To adhere to its philosophy “Take from society, give back to society”, CHC Healthcare Group actively participates in social welfare such as regular free clinics in rural area for the past years; and during the virus outbreaks in this mid-year, CHC has donated protective materials and provided immediate medical assistance to the most vulnerable people.
For the first anniversary of our headquarters at Neihu District, Taipei, we organized a blood donation event on September 6th, 2021, and invited surrounding companies to join us to respond to the country’s critical blood shortage.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization, one blood donation can save as many as three lives, and regular blood donation is not only beneficial to recipients but also has countless health benefits for donors. According to Mr. Peter Lee, vice chairman of CHC Healthcare Group, ‘’at the beginning, we were not quite confident to have the event because of COVID-19, but after consulting the Taiwan Blood Service foundation, we decided to give it a try. Gratefully, our employees signed up enthusiastically and for some the decision to donate blood for the first time was very touching. Although it was during the epidemic period, the response was quite excited. CHC will continue to engage in public welfare activities in the future and work hard to fulfill its corporate social responsibilities’’, Mr. Peter Lee said.
To attract more people to the event, CHC Healthcare Group joined hands with two nearby companies; Shing Great Jungle Home Appliance and Long-Der Motors Co., Ltd., Taipei to prepare exquisite gifts and snack boxes from Sheltered Workshop for blood donors. We also invited other companies in the surrounding including Flytech Technology, Taiwan Shin Kong Security, Fortune Information Systems, and Nan-Neihu Branch of Hua Nan Commercial Bank to join the activity.
Overall it was a successful event. CHC expresses gratitude to all donors for their generous contribution to the national blood bank and hopes that more people will join next time for a greater contribution to society.
