Since 2015, CHC Healthcare Group has continuously encouraged colleagues to respond to the global environmental charity event “Earth Hour” by turning off the lights for one hour, using the action to call on the public to address the issue of climate change and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
In addition to responding to the lights-off event, started from 2021, the group has also initiated the [environmental protection, starting from daily life] movement, advocating in 2021 for colleagues to practice environmental protection in their daily lives. In 2022, we invited RE-THINK (Taiwan RE-THINK Environmental Education Association) to provide an educational speech on recycling to the entire company.
In 2023, holding on to the group’s business philosophy of “sustainable development” and responding to environmental protection demands, The group remain committed to carrying out the one-hour lights-off initiative every year to continue to support the sustainable development movement.
Meanwhile, due to the increased demand for delivery and takeout food during the pandemic, research shows that there is nearly 30% increase in the use of disposable tableware compared to the recycling of plastic and paper tableware during the same period. According to statistics from the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, the daily amount of garbage generated per person is 1.173 kilograms.
In order to reduce garbage and lower carbon dioxide emissions, CHC cooperates with sheltered workshops to launch an event where employees bring their own utensils for lunch. The sheltered workshops prepare the lunch and subsidize part of the meal expenses to encourage colleagues to bring their own containers to reduce the use of disposable tableware. Every small action can help protect our Earth, and we hope to support environmental protection with practical actions to gradually change the world.
Because our planet our responsibility.
